ABOUT ABOUT

A Christmas Carol has come home again.
This will be Legacy’s eighth production of A Christmas Carol. Our first was at the opening of our theater in 2011. In the eight years we’ve been producing A Christmas Carol, no two scripts have been the same. Each year, we find a new way to tell the story of Scrooge, The Ghosts of Christmas, Bob Cratchit, and Tiny Tim, and this year is no different!

In this adaptation, Erika Bain has rewritten the script using the storytelling theater style, which has become our favorite type of theater to produce and direct. In Storyteller Theater, the actors take on a variety of roles, often telling the story using minimal props and costumes, to engage and captivate the audience. It is a unique and intimate form of theater that relies on the skill of the performer to bring the story to life.

This style of storytelling has its roots in Choral speaking, which dates back to the earliest forms of theatre in Greece. Greek theatre is most commonly associated with the Greek Chorus and its various forms of choral speech.  If you’ve been around Legacy Theater Company, you’ve seen us produce this style of theater with Godspell, Once on this Island, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

We would love for you to join us on this new adventure through A Christmas Carol.
